Clothes that children like to wear make them feel good and this is reflected in their expression. Konrad would like to borrow Hedvig’s dress! But what does Grandma find in the basement? Konrad’s Dress is a wonderful book that shows interaction, jealousy between siblings, and that you can wear what you think is nice. She’s sparkling! Konrad has not received anything. Hedvig has been given a blue sparkly dress. I NEVER had ANY negative feelings towards ANYONE being who they are…I just didn’t THINK about it enough, you know? Morris made me see that we all need to protect everyone’s right to be exactly who they are. When I read Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress, I fell so in love with Morris! And as soon as I fell in love with Morris, my heart broke for all the kids, teens, and adults, who feel pain associated with just being who they are. This book helps me not feel alone and gives me confidence to be myself. I’ve been bullied for liking feminine things, so I love that Morris found a way to deal with the mean comments. This is one of the first books I read about a boy like me.
